Cut back the chaparral from your mind. It's so old and overgrown with vines. And you're going back to the sky. Burn off the leaves that fell on your brain. They only specialize in pain. And you're going back to the sky. Kick out the mannequins from your head. They have no hearts and their eyes are dead. They won't let you go back to the sky. You're going back to the sky.

La Cienega 04:30
Going down to La Cienega. Here is the valley and rise of Topanga Hill. Here is the alley where Sal Mineo was killed. Here is 875 South Bundy Drive. Here's where Marlene Dietrich lived when she was alive. Out in the sun, in the sun where the people play. Out in the sun, in the sun almost every day. Going down to La Cienega. Here is the tar and the pits where the bones lay. Here are the stars that they walk over every day. Here is the land and the river they cut in half. No, they don't know, they don't know what they really have. Out in the sun, in the sun where the people play. Out in the sun, in the sun almost every day. Going down to La Cienega.

Motel 101 02:00
Park the car out with the others. Leave it there for days. My set gets color. And lots of static waves. That stands for something. Amounts to nothing. I think it's something anyway. The walls are patchwork. The recliner is velour. There's a book here by Gideon. Couldn't tell you what it's for. Must stand for something. Amounts to nothing. Don't think it's something anyway. I went to the highway they call the freeway. I went there yesterday.

Van Nuys 02:29
I took the bus up to Van Nuys. I had plans to change my life. Everyone there was so nice. There were so many things that I could buy. But no, it had been too long. I saw the signs out in Van Nuys. On a bus stop bench design. Selling clear skin and blue eyes. I tried so hard to free my mind. But no, it had been too long. I met strangers in Van Nuys. We said things and most were lies. We did not see eye to eye. I had to wear my human disguise. It had been so long.

The sun reaches out its hand. The sun reaches out. Black clouds outside the door. Blue skies on the soul report. The sun reaches out of your mind. The sun reaches out. The afghan bed and tidal salt. A frame of mind as warm as a cult. You saw yourself in the face of the sun. You never knew you were a phase of the sun. The sun reaches out of your mind. The sun reaches out of time. You wanted to be placed in front of the sun. Didn't you know you were a phase of the sun? You only wanted the love of the sun. To be placed in front of the sun. You only wanted the love of the sun. To be placed above the sun. To be worshiped, worshiped in the face of the sun. But you were nothing, nothing but a phase of the sun.

Cielo Driver 03:06
the temple looking for religion. I was at the movies for the science fiction. You were in high school getting education. I was in the front seat trying to change the station. Camped on the beach in your seaside community. Out of sight, out of reach of your local authorities. You were in the kitchen heading for the basement. I was what Freud would call a discontent. I killed time looking at the waves. But you were in a panic room called "U.S.A." Some stains were red. My skin was white. My eyes were blue. And I had nothing to do. You separated me from the nation. You said I didn't represent the population. But in your hearts and in your minds, deep inside you're all Cielo Drivers.

Mars Child 03:44
Hello, new star. You fell so far. Fell into my arms. Now tell me who you really are. Years wasted. Lost in space. But you're the kintsugi for the human race. You're a Mars child with a star inside. You're a Mars child. And you don't need to hide. Hello, new sun. In a sky of blue. Last night you laughed at a cold and golden Cheshire moon. Are you made of stardust? How many lives we've known. Someday you'll take your place up on Olympus Mons. Cause you're a Mars child with a star inside. You're a Mars child. And you don't need to hide. So hello, new star. You fell so far. Fell into my arms. Now tell me who you are.

Took my friends and took my hometown. Took my dogs and took my flag down. And I'm chasing a feeling down. Took my books and took my records. Took my maps and secret lessons. And I'm chasing a feeling down. Took my checks and took my gold ring. Took my cash and all liquid assets. And I'm chasing a feeling down. Took my language. Took my dreamscape. Took my E.S.P. and free attention. And I'm chasing a feeling down. Took my beasts and took the wild prey. Took an endangered species' DNA. And I'm chasing a feeling down. Took my passport. Took my railway. Took my airport. Took my Gare du Nord. And I'm chasing a feeling down. Took my time and took my eyesight. Took my breath and took me by surprise. And I'm chasing a feeling down, down, down.

Take anything you want from this tree. Red, gold, or green. Red, gold, or green. You're born and now it's time to learn. Or maybe "recall" is the word. Make anything you want to believe. It's make-believe. It's make-believe. But don't waste the day chasing snakes. You'll lose a friend in the end. Secret birds form a V. Right up there. Can you see? So take anything you want from this dream. I don't know what it means. I was asleep.

Mirage #6 04:29
The disease is much better since it spread. It left the extremities and moved to the head. I count six abandoned cars on the tide. Someone needs to turn down the light. And it feels much better, every day gets better. They say it's getting better. Better, so they say. Someone's at the door for your mind. Sun leaks in through vertical blinds. An infinity pool blends into the sea. There's sky for as far as the eye can see. A cargo ship brings in new dirt. It floats just above the curve of the earth. Features are carved deep into the land. Some made by time, some by man. Kids play with dead fish on the shore. And every day, we're making the way for more. We're putting up blockades along the palisades. But I can't tell if they're to keep you out, or me in. I sleep in my clothes on the chair. I wake and go to the landing for air. The boat has long since disappeared. There's no proof it was ever here. But I hear it's getting better. Every year, a little better. They say it's getting better. Better, so they say. And I hear it's getting better. Every year, a little better. They say it's getting better...

Where is your dream? Where is your big, big dream? We've been here all along. I had a dream. I had a bad, bad dream. We've been here all along. Where did you run? Can't break free from the sun. We've been here all along. Where is your dream? Where are your big, big dreams? We've been here all along. Where is your dream? Where is your big, big dream? We've been here all along. Where is your big, big dream? We've been here all along. I had a dream. I had a bad, bad dream. We've been here all along.
